Low Refractive Index Claddings/Coatings

Hybrid Glass Technologies specializes in the synthesis of hybrid materials representing unique combinations of perfluorinated polymer and silica. Such hybrids form hard, low optical loss, low refractive index, thermally and chemically resistant glass-like films that adhere well to glass, plastic or graphite substrates. The refractive indices of the cured products vary from 1.3800 to 1.4500.

These materials are recommended for:

  • Low refractive index claddings for POF (polymeric optical fibers) or specialty silica-core optical fibers.
  • Hydrophobic, water barrier, chemical resistant and heat resistant optical coatings for optical crystals, planar waveguides and photonic devices.
