Mission

Our mission is to develop and manufacture hybrid glass-based protective coatings for specialty optical fibers working in adverse environments in various civic and military platforms. Our high performance hybrid glass coatings provide the optical fibers with enhanced strength and long-term environmental durability in a small diameter fiber that includes easy termination and a minimal bend radius.

Vision

The demand for specialty coatings is enormous and growing. Our goal is to make our hybrid glass materials a new solution for fiber optic coatings operating in adverse environments where commercial polymer coatings have been failing. Since our materials have a superior tolerance to adverse conditions, they enable optical fibers to operate on aircraft, missiles, satellites, ships and submarines.

Currently, our products have specific functionality that addresses optimal mechanical performance and high durability. In the future, a wide range of functionalities will be required for the many diverse types of fibers emerging in the marketplace. Within five years, we anticipate accessing the automotive, medical imaging, nuclear plant monitoring, oil well lodging and other fiber sensor markets. Our products’ superior track record will enable us to target the UV-curing industry outside fiber optics.

Core Advantages

We are introducing novel coating technology that can radically change the existing UV curing products in and beyond the fiber optics market. As the first company to introduce these materials, we have an experience curve advantage that will be maintained through active research and continued development.

Our next-generation coating materials are significantly superior to current commercial products. The use of hybrid materials to fabricate coating systems having superior substrate adhesion properties, along with water barrier properties and mechanical strength, will provide the basis for a variety of protective low-stress coatings in the rapidly growing fields of optics, electronics, and optoelectronics.

Our founder and Chief Scientist has a uniquely valuable interdisciplinary expertise in the areas of material chemistry and UV curing material designs for fiber optic technology. She has more than 25 years of experimental, hands-on laboratory experience derived from work both in academia and industry that involves polymer and glass processing and applications. We have gained extensive expertise by testing our products on industrial and academic fiber drawing facilities and working closely with leaders and experts in specialty optical fiber manufacturing and testing.
